Absztrakt (kivonat): Bitter human experience is that those closest can hurt us the most, while this is part of life, extreme cruelty and causing dignitary harm has its legal response. In marriage there are explicit legal obligations the breach of which might result in marital breakdown. Some of these used to be criminal offences and fault grounds for divorce, nowadays their legal value is a question. A number of jurisdictions are beginning to find personal injury claims as a possible legal response for these infringements.
