This study aims to provide an overview of the Hungarian land reforms between 1918 and 1945. The three aspects examined (the size of the areas covered by the land reform, the number of eligible claimants, and the compensation paid to the former owners) are suitable for assessing the intensity of the reforms. We suppose that the more radical the land reform, the more likely it was to eliminate wealth disparities. The two land reforms carried out (in 1920 and 1945) showed considerable differences in the aspects examined.
